Can anyone tell me if a sealed bid is legally binding. Somebody might have thought of that, so you go for £150,101, but someone might have thought of that too, so what about £150,102? On the initial adverts it was being sold 'by informal tender'. If anyone could clear this up for me i'd be. We could have afforded much more (we have subsequently had an offer accepted on a property that is £135k more expensive than the one we put a sealed bid on) but we decided to offer what we thought the property in question was worth to us, bearing in mind we were somewhat hamstrung with what we felt the bank may value the property at.
If anyone could clear this up for me i'd be. Repos offers are never really 'accepted' till exchange of contracts. I am interested in purchasing a house in my area and as there is alot of interest it is going to sealed bids. On the day of the bid the estate agents confirmed the other party had placed their bid (this is confirmed on email) and so we did the same. Sealed bids doesnt usually mean the highest price is excepted if it isnt a probate sale. The estate agents then told us the only way to split the bids is to go to best and final offer in writing.
