Blum Hinge Template
Blum Hinge Template - Haven't used a drill press or hinge boring machine in years. Their drawing is correct but photo is wrong. The photo shows an excerpt from the catalog, where it explains how to do this. The machine was a gannomat red barron that the salice hinge supplier was offering at about $380 (carbide bits included). My problem is that i need the doors to be recessed by 1/4″. The holding pins are replaceable, if they get bent or worn, trade them out.
There are quite a few different hinge brands and they aren't all the same, particularly the ones with rounded corners. It seemed of reasonable quality but i returned it since it required multiple operations to bore the pattern. All the blum hinge specs i have seen show overlay and inset applications. I can't recall any problems other than hitting the template with the router bit, lol. My customer wants european cabinet doors that are seperated by about 1/8.

You need to drill the 35mm hole at a specific distance from the edge for a given amount of overlay.
My customer wants european cabinet doors that are seperated by about 1/8. It has 4 individual hinge templates that can be connected together to route out the hinge gains on the door. Then you carry the assembled template over to the jamb, and with the proper setback from the top route the hinge gains in the jamb. This new blum hinge can accomodate this look.

Then You Carry The Assembled Template
It did come in nice sheet metal box, all very organized with the router bits. For the hinge selected, a 3mm high plate will yield a 1/2 overlay (13mm) when a 5mm bore distance (edge o' hole to edge o' door). I use it in the shop and on site constantly. Sometimes you have to match the bit to the radius on the hinge.
